Austin College: A Sesquicentennial History, 1849-1999
Published in Hardcover by Eakin Publications (July, 1999)
Average review score:

The history of Austin College is the story of the Lone StarChartered in 1849, only a few years after the Republic of Texas became a state, the story of Austin College is the history of the State of Texas itself.
The effects of change ... war, depression, economic boom, and social turmoil among them ... on the small Presbyterian liberal arts college, shows the state's development in microscosm.
Moreover, one story after another points to the importance of individuals who have the will to continue development in the face of adversity, from inaugural trustee General Sam Houston through the current day.

The Autobiographical Consciousness of Aging
Published in Paperback by Edmund Sherman (July, 2000)
Average review score:

A truly inspiring bookThis is a truly inspiring book. It presents a way of understanding and expanding one's "autobiographical consciousness," and achieving optimum aging, through reminiscence about one's own life. Sherman presents an impressive, learned exposition of the relevant thinking of many great minds in his explanation of the meaning, elements and processes of aging and consciousness. He gives examples of ordinary people who are very much alive in their accounts of their lives and how they achieved an expanded and self-accepting autobiographical consciousness. This book made for a very helpful emotional and intellectual experience in self-examination of my own life.

Barton Mumaw, Dancer: From Denishawn to Jacob's Pillow and Beyond
Published in Hardcover by Princeton Book Co Pub (May, 1986)
Average review score:

A FASCINATING JOURNEYI had the pleasure of a casual acquaintanceship with Mumaw in New York in the 40' and 50's. Always enticing, the narrative is impeccable, and the story itself one well worth telling. The prime student and then lover of Ted Shawn, Mumaw was enriched by the pairing, and when later in life after he had cut the umbilical chord with Shawn, though devastated by Shawn's treacherous behavior, could never bring himself to bring an end to the friendship.

Basic Concepts of Chemistry
Published in Paperback by Houghton Mifflin Co (June, 1996)
Average review score:

a great endeavorA clear concise "matter of fact" textbook with excellent editing and no mistakes. Teaching is both a combination of knowing a material or subject AND being able to successfully explain and show it to others. I was fortunate to have Leonard Russikoff assigned to me as a guidance councillor and Allen Sherman as an instructor for a general chemistry course, and to have used there text book as material for a basic chemistry course at Middlesex County College, Edison, NJ

Because It's My Body (Keep 'Em Safe Series)
Published in Paperback by S A F E for Children Pub Llc (July, 1902)
Average review score:

This book is a gem!"Because It's My Body!" is a book about PREVENTION. It really does teach children how to act in ways that make them less likely to be touched when they don't want to be. It is unique in its non-threatening tone, never suggesting that anyone has bad intentions. Anatomy is never mentioned. The book includes a wonderful and useful educational note to parents on this topic. The author's success in reaching children became apparent when my 5 year old insisted on bringing the book to school for his teacher to read to the class. More information about this book and its talented author can be found .... I wholeheartedly agree with the praise of the professionals who endorsed this book. "Because It's My Body!" should be read by all children and the adults who care for them!

Bent
Published in Paperback by Applause Theatre Books (Sd) (May, 1998)
Average review score:

heart wrenching, emotional rollercoaster..this book runs the gamut from joyous hedonism to the extreme visciousness of humankind. I cannot remember the last time I was so emotionally drawn in and captivated by such intelligent, breathing, living characters. This book is a powerful must read for anyone concerned with what makes humanity tick, and the absolute evil that seems so inherently possible. A love story that trancends all generations. This is proof that the human will is a miraculous thing.
